Ice Sculptures

Hi guys!

So I wanted to post this a while ago, but for some reasons I never got to it. I’ve been very busy lately. First we got all the holidays which didn’t leave me with much spare time. Next, I also got sick for a while so every moment where I wasn’t working, I was laying in the sofa or in bed to rest. Also there are some big changes coming up for me. Both in my personal as in my working life. I’m not going to tell you more about it because it’s all still realy vague .

Anyway, about a month ago, I went to the Ice Sculptures in Bruges with my boyfriend. The Ice Sculptures are there every year, each year with another theme. Last year it was ‘Frozen’ (yes, from the Disney movie!) but we never got to go. This year it was ‘The Hobbit’. We finally got to go and after that, we went to the cinema en watched to last part of the Hobbit trilogy.

So here are some pictures I’ve been wanting to show you guys for over a month. Enjoy!!

And before I forget: I hope you had lovely holidays with your family and friends. And I wish you all the best for 2015!

First day at work & DIY Todo-book

Hi everybody!

As I told you a few posts ago, I’ve graduated recently and I’m starting my first job. Yesterday was the day: my first day at work. Well actually, my official first day is this Thursday, but there was an important meeting yesterday and it would be good for me to be there.

I noticed that  I’ll have to do a lot of planning in my job and there are many things that I should remember. Having a todo-list will be necessary. But having a list for everyday will be confusing after a while, so I decided I needed a Todo-book. I didn’t feel like bying one since I’ve got many old notebooks left (as I told you in one of my previous posts: DIY Notebook), so I made one! The principle is the same as for the notebooks, I just added ‘To Do’ on it. I must say that I’m quite proud of the result: it’s cute and girly, without being childish.

Hope you like it!

Apologies, update & big news !

Hi there!

First off, I want to apologize. It’s been over a year since I blogged and there are many reasons for that.
It’s been a very busy year for me. First, I had my internship in Ypres where I had to word six out of seven days from 8.30 a.m. till 6 p.m. After that, I still had a lot of schoolwork to do. I hardly had any me-time so there wasn’t any blog-time left. But, I had a great time in Ypres! Met some amazing people, had a great experience and learned a lot.

After the internship was over, I still had my thesis to do, which was about autism. Very interesting, but it took me a while to finish it. Anyhow, last monday (which is three days ago) I had to bring it forward, talk about it, answer questions,… all in front of a jury. I was very very nervous for that but they said it was okay! *happy dance*. Tonight, after 6 p.m. I’ll get my results, but I already know that I passed. Which means that I am graduated! I have got my bachelors degree and I can start working now. End of august, I can start an interim job at the place I did my internship. My mentor recommended me, which makes me very happy.
So this was the big news: I graduated ánd I have my first job! I’m very excited. Also, I will try to blog more from now on.

Last year I went to Lisbon, Portugal with my sister. It’s been a year so I’m not going to blog about it, but I can recommend you some things and I’ll also post a picture. We made to daytrips during our stay in Lisbon: we went to Sintra and to Cascais. Sintra was really beautiful and you should definitely go and see it. You can go by train form Lisbon and it’s only about an hour on that train. Very easy and not expensive! Sintra was more cultural and Cascais was more of a rest: great beach. We wanted to go to a beach or swimming pool since it was so hot there, and they recommended Cascais. We also wanted to visit Belem, but didn’t have the time since we were only about 6 days in Lisbon. Anyway, I would definitely recommend it!

This year, I’m going to Scotland for two weeks. I’m very excited! And I’ll blog you when I’m back.

What have you guys been upto?

Tattoo ♥

Hi there!

I thought I might make a blog about my tattoo I got about a year ago. I wanted to have a tattoo for many years, but my parents didn’t alow me. Although I was already +18 – so legally I could get one without my parent’s permission – I still wanted their ‘blessing’.

I made the design myself. What I really wanted was a bird. All of a sudden, I saw many people with tattoos of a bird. Is it because I was thinking about it and for that noticing, or because it’s ‘in’ these days? Anyway, I still wanted that bird. But also something else: Sacred. Now the problem is, that in Dutch that is ‘heilig’, and ‘heilig’ also means ‘holy’. So it was possible that people would immediatly think about God. And that wasn’t my purpose.

Since I love elves and fairies, my sister came up with the idea to put it in Elvish. Which is: Aina. It sounded good too, so I went for Aina.

Now, the meaning of my tattoo is next:
The bird represents the fact that I’m getting older and therefor starting my own life. Going to college, having a boyfriend (a true one, not just a flirt), planning the future, getting independent…
But despite all this, I’m still quite young, a little girl in some ways. I still need people, I still need my parents. So Aina stands for everyone I love. Going from my parents to my grandparents, to my friends (old ones and new ones), to my siblings,… So that they actually are always with me.

I remember the moment I showed my grandma my tattoo and explained. She replied: “It’s beautiful. I don’t think I’m one of the persons who it stands for though.” And she smiled, as though it was the most natural thing to mean my friends with ‘important people’ and not my grandparents, who are older and stuff. I looked a bit weird and said: “Ofcourse you’re one of them! You belong to the main group of important people, you’re my grandmother!”.
I’ll never forget that moment.

So, what do you guys think about tattoos? Or about mine? Do you have or want one? Comment below ^.^

2nd first post

So, here’s my second first post! *yeay*

First things first. I wanted to make a blog for a long time already. For some reason, I just couldn’t make myself start one. Now, this night, I couldn’t (can’t actually) sleep at all. And I was thinking about things. And I was thinking about them in a blog-way. So I was like, why not?
So at this point, it’s 3.16 A.M. and I made my blog!

I’m not sure yet what I’m going to post. Everything that’s on my mind I guess. ^^
And I’ll show you guys some pictures from my travels. Next stop: Instanbul.
I’m pretty sure sooner of later I will post a (or more) shoplog(s). Since I love to shop (but hate spending money).
Oh and ofcourse, some pictures of my DIY-ing (jewelry, clothing updo) and maybe even scrapbooking, who knows.

Well, that’s that. I think I’m going to bed now.
I’m quite new, that’s obvious. So if you have any remarks, questions, tips or anything, just comment!
