Christmas cards !

Hi there!

A few blogposts ago I promised you to show you my Christmas cards for this year. I’ve already made them months ago, but I’m finally showing them to you. I’m a true Christmaslover I must say. That may be one of the reasons why I’ve got my cards ready for a while.

It’s very simple to make them. You just cut circles out of coloring paper or magazines or whatever you find. To make it easier you can use a paper puncher.
Next, you glue them on to your card, making the shape of a Christmas tree. You can finish it of with whatever you want, I used bow stickers and I absolutely love the result.

Now tell me, do you prefer to make or buy your Christmas cards? Let me know!

Wreaths !

Hi everyone !

So I saw this idea on welke.nl for a nice fall wreath. I liked it so much, that I decided to make one myself, inspired by this picture.

This is what it turned out to be:

wreath-1

It’s really easy to make. This is what you’ll need:

  • felt
  • wool
  • wire (I used textile yarn)
  • a styrofoam wreath
  • pins
  • scissors
  • glue (I used a hot glue gun)

I simply started by winding the textile yarn around the styrofoam wreath. On the back, I secured them with some pins to make sure they stay in place.

Next I cut out diamond shapes form the felt. I drew them myself by using a ruler, but you can also use a pattern to do that. I then glued the felt onto the wreath.

Next I took my wool and started winding around the  wreath. To secure them, I again used some pins on the back.

To finish it off, I cut out a felt owl and glued it on. You can also use flowers or butterflies or whatever you want.

So that was it! I hope you liked it. Let me know what you think and if you ever make one yourself, show me! If you want to make other (fall)wreaths, here’s a link of some inspiration I found: http://www.bystephanielynn.com/2012/10/fifty-fall-wreath-ideas-inspiration-for-the-entire-autumn-season.html

Have fun!

Decorating with flowers – part two

Hi there!

I’m back with part two of decorating with flowers. Again, this was inspired by the decoration course I took. We made this cute flower arrangement with hydrangeas and this is the result:

Tadaaa !

So proud of it! Now, it’s been a few weeks since I made it, so the colors have really changed by now. They’re not as bright anymore. I found it perfect for fall, with the changed colors. So I decided to change it up a bit and make it more ‘fall’. Here’s what I made of it:

Et voilà!

I don’t know which one I prefer. The original one was really nice with the bright pink and red. But this one I like too, because it’s so seasonal and cosy. Which one do you prefer? Tell me in the comments!

See you next time!

Decorating with flowers – part one

Hi there!

So I don’t know if I’ve told you this, but since this month I’m joining a decoration-course along with my sister. The first lesson was mostly introduction, but we also made some cute vases with balloons. The principle is simple:

1. Take a balloon (preferbly metallic and strong) in a pretty color.
2. Fill the balloon with sand (or whatever you want). You can do this easily by filling an empty waterbottle (1/2 liter). Blow up the balloon, put the ‘mouth’ of the balloon on top of your bottle, and poor the sand in. Then carefully let the air out of the balloon.
3. Put a pipette in the balloon and you can put whatever flower you want in it. Here is my result (sorry for the bad quality. I forgot to make a picture of it but then remembered I had one on my instagram, but it was taking with my phone):

Naamloos-1

Now everyone who’s coming to our house, are noticing them and are complementing on them. It’s so easy, but it can really bring color to the room.

With this project, I told you guys step by step how to make it. With the other classes, I’m not going to do that. It’s out of respect for our lovely teacher. I will, however, show you guys what I made! It can be some nice inspiration.

Next time, I will show you the next flower-project we made. It’s a cute flower arrangement with hydrangeas. So excited to show it to you guys!

So see you next time!

New cards, a bird-series

Hi everybody!

So I noticed lately I make my cards in some kind of series. Last time I showed you some cards with little pearls and now I’ve made a new series. It’s a ‘Bird-series’. I have found this cute little pattern of a bird which I loved so much, I started drawing many birds on my scrapbookpaper and cut them out. I was left with all these birds, so I decided to make cards with them. I think they’re really cute and fun, but maybe a bit childish. I might use them for a newborn or a childs birthday. What do you think I can use them for?

I’m really sorry for the bad quality of my photos lately. I’m getting a bit lazy and I’m making my pictures with my phone instead of my camera. So sorry for that!

Also; I’ve made some cute Christmascards already. I will show them to you guys, but I thought it’s still a bit early for Christmascards, so you’ll have to wait a few weeks.

See you guys soon!

DIY flower-canvas

Hi!

I’m back with another DIY. It’s been a crafty few days for me lately and I’ll tell you why. It al started Saturday, when two of my best friends came over to celebrate our birthdays. Since one of my friends was in Nicaragua for about four months, we couldn’t celebrate our birthdays on that day. So we decided to celebrate them together when she came back. And last Saturday was thé day!
Birthdays go with presents like bees go with flowers, so we exchanged some awesome presents. The present I got was the perfect proof of the fact that my friends really know me: I got many crafting stuff! *happy dance* So the next day, I immediatly started crafting: I made some cute little boxes which I’ll put on this blog later.
They also got me a canvas which was my crafting project of today. In this blog, I’ll tell you more on how I did it. It was really easy!

First, I painted the canvas since I thought it was a bit too white. I used the color ‘clay’ from ‘Home deco, decorative hobby paint’.

Next, when the paint was dry, I added some ‘mauve’ (also from Home deco) with a sponge. I then painted it again with ‘clay’, when the mauve was still wet. By doing this, I created some darker, purple-ish shades which I think give the canvas more character.

Next, I drew some flower-leaves on scrapbook-paper (I chose to use two colors, but you can use as many as you like).

IMG_20140722_185144-1

I cut them out en glued them on the canvas. You can use any glue you like, just use the one you are most comfortable with.

And this was the result!

IMG_20140722_202912-1
As you can see, it wasn’t hard at all. It was easy, fun and with a nice result!
P.S.: the white you can see on the flowers is some glue that wasn’t yet dry. I just wasn’t patient enough to wait until it was before taking a picture.

Later I will blog about my little boxes, but this was it for today. Make sure to let me know what you think in the comments and ’till next time!

Belgian Red Devils.

Hi!

No one can escape from it: it’s the fifa world cup in Brasil.
Since I’m from Belgium, I obviously cheer for the Belgian Red Devils, even though I’m not really a fan of football. I love how everywhere you go in Belgium at the moment, you see the Belgian flag. On the windows, on cars, people with shirts on,… The feeling of belonging, the feeling of being one is quite nice.

During the summer, I’m working in a daycare for children between 2,5 and 12 years old. Every week we’re working around another theme. This week was entirely in sign of football, mostly because last tuesday the Red Devils had to play against the U.S.A. Since they won, they’re playing against Argentina this evening. So we had enough reasons to work around that theme.

I had this nice idea of making a big Belgian and Brazilian flag. The kids were divided in groups and every one had another color they had to paint with. Instead of using brushes, the kids used their hands to paint with. More stamping actually. In the Belgian flag you can really see that they painted with their hands, in the Brazilan flag it wasn’t so obvious. But I’m so proud of the result and the kids had zo much fun! It was very successful I’d like to say. So as a way of supporting for tonight, I’m sharing the results to you guys!

Who are you cheering for this evening or in general? And what do you think of our flags? Comment!
